Hummingbirds visited me every day before they ate. They would buzz my face, like a greeting.

My daughter sent me a video of the nest by her balcony. They are noisy!

These are gorgeous! Several of these shots would make great jigsaw puzzles, too.

I used to work for a company called Hummingbird. They put one on their corporate logo. I have tossed out shirts, hats and lots of paraphenalia with the name/image on it. I think I still have a few things, though they were bought out decades ago.

Someone once said they're the only bird that can fly backwards. Very cool.

Last fall I was an Ace Hardware store buying birdseed. Some lady, a clerk, asked me if I wanted any hummingbird feeders, She had just marked them down to a buck a piece. I said "Hell yeah" and took the 5 she had left. Got three jugs of nectar too. Finally bought a pole last month and set my "Hummingbird Super Station" up. I moved my chair so I could look at the feeders out the window. The hummingbird l photographed Friday was the first one I've seen this year. Then I saw two yesterday morning checking out the feeders. I have high hopes for the future!

My late Mother loved the hummingbirds and they loved her, always circling her before feeding from the flowers she grew for them. When they come to the honeysuckle in my backyard it always brings me fond memories of her. These photos are amazing and brought me the same bittersweet feelings. I don't have words to express how much I thank you for sharing.

the circuitousness of the route that brought me to the photos and poem is guided by odd coincidences -- all explicable, but still remarkable
